The Incredible Power of Now

Updated on July 6, 2016

Every morning we wake to a totally new world. We're staring at a blank canvas. It's screaming," I dare you to paint a masterpiece". Daily, we have an opportunity to change the world. To make a difference. To improve our life and the lives of others. Does this sound hokey? OK, so I may have gone a little overboard. But, by focusing on living in the present, we not only become more productive, our decisions are more sound and effective. Life becomes simplified. That's a good thing, right?

I truly understand. We live in a crazy, fast paced world. Rushing here, running there. Jeez, I'm late for work. Did I lock the front door? Where the hell is my iPhone? Scrambling to meet that deadline... worrying about the next project. STOP!!! Let's hit rewind.

Mindfulness - Living in the Moment

The first words out your mouth every morning should be " thank you for this beautiful day".

When that incessant voice in your head is causing indecision and chaos ask this simple question, "What's the best use of my time right now?" What will make me happy, keep me on track and bring peace and meaning to my life. Living in the present forces us to relax and make sensible decisions. It allows us to organize and prioritize our day. We actually enjoy what we're doing.

The next time you're faced with stress or anxiety, step back, take a few deep measured breaths. And, ask yourself that question. Usually calm and sensibility return. I truly believe that we use only a small percentage of our intellectual and physical capabilities. We choose to let our egos rule. And, it gets in the way and alters these powerful tools.

Don't fall into the trap that we have to rush around to be successful. We become too aggressive, and ruin our quality of life. We lose life's natural rhythm. Instead of overpowering these rhythms, listen to what they're telling you. Trust your instincts and not the preconceived notions of what needs to happen. The expression, "Roll with the Flow" was never more evident. Tapping into this energy produces positive results, because that's what's meant to be. Difficult situations become manageable and accomplishments become more gratifying.

By living in the moment, we open ourselves to the unbelievable power of the universe, the power of Now.

Yesterday is history... Learn!!! Then, let go.

The future is tomorrow. Focus on this moment... and grow!!!

The Rhythm of Life

Physiology-Our Bodies

Intelligence-Our Minds

Intuition-Our Heart and Soul

Environment-Our World

Spirituality-Our Beliefs

Everything in life has a rhythm, a flow, a beat that orchestrates the universal pulse. Just think about it, not only in the human realm, but even in natures domain. Certain actions create reactions. These reactions move progressively to an outcome. It has a certain logic that gives all things order. This process occurs billions of times every nano-second all over the planet. Its an energy that drives our biological, psychological and botanical processes. Without this positive force there would be utter chaos. In a metaphysical sense, where does it come from, who is its' creator, and how is it maintained? We very rarely consciously think about this force but, if you take a close look all your activities during a normal day, it's there. Everywhere! What guides these principals? As human beings, we possess the intellect to make decisions but, what force drives the rest of our world?

Is there just a natural progression of the way things should be? Or, is there a universal blueprint that was created by a higher intelligence? Still, there is imperfection. Disease, natural disasters, war and starvation.

If you do something that feels unnatural or awkward, your fighting this rhythm and normally something unwanted happens. "Go with the Flow". Be instinctual. Allow your gut, your heart and soul guide your thoughts and actions. Does a bird have to think about flying or a fish about swimming? We are creatures in this world just as they, and our instincts are even more evolved. So, why is it so hard for humans to "let go" and let life come to them. I find myself constantly trying to force something to happen, pushing for a certain result. Of course, this produces stress and anxiety in addition to a less than perfect outcome.

The next time your feeling stressed, apprehensive or anxious, listen your life force, follow it's rhythm. Be present and realize that if you allow the rhythms to naturally flow, you add value to who you are and what you do.

We need to recognize and embrace these rhythms and respect their potential. Can you imagine a life as simple and uncomplicated as breathing? Life is that simple. It can happen. Just relax and enjoy the beautiful inherent abilities we all have within us. By using the Power of Now to tap into that enormous resource, we'll live a more meaningful, productive and happy life. The world becomes our playground... not our battlefield.

Ciao!!!
